The aim of IOK’s Islamic Studies program is to build a strong Muslim identity and a practical understanding of Islam based on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. The Islamic Studies curriculum takes a gradual approach in creating a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Students will be introduced gradually to the following topics throughout their educational career at IOK bases on Safar Islamic Studies Curriculum:
Students learn about the six articles of faith and the five pillars of Islam. Students are introduced to the concepts of belief at a level that is appropriate for their age.
Students will explore sayings of the Prophet (ﷺ) related to good morals, behavior and virtues.
Students will learn the rules and regulations related to acts of worship such as purification, prayer, fasting, zakah and hajj. Each year they will be introduced to the subject matter at a level that is appropriate for their age. The series takes a gradual approach to fiqh, with each year building upon the last.
Students will learn about the Islamic code of behavior related to manners and morals. They are taught about respect for parents, teachers, elders and neighbors. They will learn manners such as politeness, kindness and cleanliness. The objective of this subject is to build the character of the student keeping in mind the hadith of the Prophet (ﷺ), “I have been sent to perfect good character.”.
Students will cover stories of the Prophets mentioned in the Quran. They will also cover a detailed study of the life of the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions.
